Watch this video to learn the principle behind the operation of a centrifugal pump. A centrifugal pump is the most widely used pump in the industry today. How does it work? To begin with, a centrifugal pump has various parts: the pump’s housing, the impeller, rotor, shaft, shaft sealing, and bearings. These parts work concurrently to draw in water at low pressure and discharge it at high pressure.
The rotor is the part of the pump that provides it with rotational energy. It connects to the shaft, which also connects to the impeller.
The rotor creates a magnetic field that spins the shaft and the impeller. When the impeller rotates, the fluid inside it auto rotates, causing a centrifugal force that moves the liquid at a high velocity.
The fluid is readily pushed out in all directions to the edge of the impeller with an increased speed. Meanwhile, the central part retains low pressure, allowing more water to come in. The high-pressure fluid at the edge is then discharged through an outlet at a higher pressure, creating a flow. Oftentimes, people contact a pump service to ensure their centrifugal pump operates well.
